Following a successful ground-breaking event back in February, a Picnic in the Park event was organised at Mayfield Watford to show owners and prospects progress on construction for the new retirement village. The much-awaited event was sold out within days of invitations being sent out.

Ensuring safety for all was adhered to throughout the picnic, the event was held outside and restricted to a maximum of 30 people (including staff) with gazebos and tables spread out. Upon arrival, temperatures for all staff and guests were taken for track and trace, and PPE was available for all attendees with extra hand sanitizer on each table. Guests were also asked some health questions the day before as an extra precaution ahead of the event.

On Monday 24th and Wednesday 26th August, guests gathered on a small area of green space opposite the construction site. Four tables were set up to accommodate a selection of invited prospects with owners and staff sharing their excitement for Mayfield Watford.

Speaking at the event, Kevin Hudson - Audley Group Construction Director, gave a talk about progress on the build. This was followed by a few words from Nick Vincent, General Manager at our sister village Audley Chalfont Dene, about life at an Audley village and some of the ways owners have been supported during lockdown. The fresh food deliveries from the new Audley pantry, and 'daily delights' motivating owners health and wellbeing are two prime examples of retirement villages adapting rapidly to life during early lockdown.

A boxed afternoon tea was served to guests to enjoy as they listened to the talks and chatted amongst their socially-distanced tables. It was great to see guests engaged, asking questions and visiting the sales office after the event to look at the Watford retirement village model, watch videos and find out more from the sales team.

For many guests, this was their first time visiting the Mayfield Watford site, discovering more about the retirement properties available, and feedback on the day was positive.

We look forward to holding similar events when we can. In the meantime, if you have any questions about how retirement villages work or would like to arrange a personal tour of the site please contact us.
