Bake your own home-made chocolate hazelnut brownie.

Chef Surendra shares with us his recipe for a delicious, indulgent, chocolate brownie you can make at home using only 8 household ingredients.



  • 125g Semi sweet dark chocolate
  • 125g Caster sugar
  • 125g Butter
  • 200g Hazelnuts (roasted and chopped)
  • 4 Medium eggs
  • 57g Plain flour
  • 17g Cocoa powder
  • 10ml Vanilla essence


  • Melt the butter, chocolate, and sugar in a bain-marie (also known as a double boiler) or using a glass bowl over a saucepan of hot water.
  • Once melted, add in the flour, cocoa powder, vanilla essence and eggs.
  • Fold in the chopped nuts.
  • Then, pour the batter into a greased oven dish. The brownie mix should be about 3cm deep.
  • Bake it for 25 minutes in a pre heated oven at 155c (130c Fan) or Gas Mark 2.

Chef Surendra has garnished his brownie slice with fresh raspberries, a drizzle of melted dark chocolate, a squirt of whipped cream, and a toffee crisp on top. Icing sugar also adds an extra touch for presentation.
