We first heard about the film A Friend Of Dorothy, when Jill Knight popped into Mayfield Watford one day for afternoon tea. Jill was here to celebrate the success of her son’s new short film (currently airing on Disney + and nominated for an Oscar! Wow!).
Having now watched the film, we think it’s nothing short of fabulous. The short film, directed by Lee Knight, tells the tale of 87 year old Dorothy who lives alone and forms an unlikely friendship with a young stranger. The two form a heartwarming bond. We know many of our homeowners will relate to Dorothy’s story. Lee Knight has cleverly directed the story in such a way that it balances intimacy and impact, evoking a smile, shock, laughter, and a tear, all in the short 21 minutes (well, it did for me!).
